Contest: teacher SPANKS OPPONENTS     STARDATE 02.10.07

While winter was trying its best to bury Chicago under its icy Saturday night fury, a beer-thirsty crowd shambled into Gio's for a glimpse of our second karaoke deathmatch. Once again, the competitors stepped up, took off the gloves and punched through their songs to the hollers of the bloodthirsty audience. At the end when the judges and I were helping God sort the dead, one singer was found at the top of the heap. Allie Burke, teacher and no stranger to the Gio's stage, schooled us all and ran off with the $100 booty.

Gio's Post-Valentines's Karaoke Contest Results:
   • 1st Place: Allie Burke doing "Me & Bobby McGee" and "Midnight Train to Georgia"
   • 2nd Place: Caitlin Berg with "Fever" and "The Pussycat Song"
   • 3rd Place: Dutch (Dave Ahrens) performing "Stuck In the Middle" and "My Best Friend's Girl"

The runner-up special performance award actually went to our 5th place winner Yoshiki Araya, as the person that scored 4th place had left early. CONGRATS to all our winners and a BIG TIME thank you to all the other contestants: Lindsay, Jon, Wiggy, Biggy, and A-S-S-H-O-L-E Kevin -- what an awesome show! The audience approved, and as you know they are merciless.

Special thanks to the judges Laura, Chris, Steve and of course Keri--who unsurprisingly found herself singing along with the contestants rather than score them. (just a reminder out there to all the folks who want to judge: Math sucks!) And thanks again to Gio's (our venue and partial supplier of prizes) and Krazy Karaoke (the music and equipment.)
